AUTOCLAVE SAFETY FEATURES

All Astell autoclaves are fitted with a number of important industry-standard safety features to ensure the well-being of both the sterilizer and its operators.

The following are incorporated as standard on all machines:

ASTELL SAFETY FEATURES

Designed and manufactured in full compliance with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU)
Over pressure and over temperature protection.
Safety linked door mechanism, meaning a cycle cannot start until the door is properly closed, or opened until the pressure and temperature within the chamber is at a safe level.
The door seal is steam and vacuum resistant, and will seal effectively without trapping or entrapment of ‘foreign’ material.
Doors are thermally insulated to prevent the surface temperature presenting a potential hazard to operators.
In the case of large capacity units (95 litres and above), a prominent external emergency stop button is fitted to the front of the machine.
Safety valve test program built in to the touchscreen controller software.
Chamber pressure gauge fitted to all machines, with additional separate gauges to monitor steam generator pressure and jacket pressure (if fitted).

It is recommended that routine service and safety checks are carried out in accordance with Astell product manuals and in compliance with current pressure regulations and/or insurance requirements.

Compact Top-Loading Autoclave Range (63 L)

Two compact top-loaders with liquid-processing and vacuum options: the Classic, which can take a CAT III filter for CL3/BSL3 waste, and the Ecofill, which recovers water and heat to reduce water use.

Top-Loading Autoclave (95–135 L)

Three larger top-loading sizes with options for faster liquid cooling, vacuum air removal and load drying (drying requires an integral steam generator or direct steam supply). Optional CAT III filter for CL3/BSL3 waste.

Front-Loading Autoclave (120–344 L)

Five chamber sizes that can be fitted with our fastest liquid cooling, plus vacuum air removal and load drying (drying requires an integral steam generator or direct steam supply). Optional CAT III filter for CL3/BSL3 waste.

Sliding-Door Circular Chamber Autoclave (120–344 L)

Five circular-chamber sizes with a sliding door, available with our fastest liquid cooling, vacuum air removal and load drying (drying requires an integral steam generator or direct steam supply). Optional CAT III filter for CL3/BSL3 waste.

SQUARE ECO Autoclave (125–360 L)

Four square-chamber sizes with an economy-focused design that makes the most of usable load space. Optional CAT III filter for CL3/BSL3 waste.

SQUARE Autoclave (125–735 L)

A wide choice of square-chamber sizes and configurations for varied loads, with a vertically sliding door. Optional CAT III filter for CL3/BSL3 waste.

SQUARE MAX Autoclave (600–1,400 L)

Our largest single-door autoclaves, with a horizontally sliding door and a wide choice of chamber sizes and configurations. Optional CAT III filter for CL3/BSL3 waste.

Double-Door SQUARE Autoclave (250–1,200 L)

A pass-through design: load on one side and unload on the other to support separation between containment or clean areas. A range of sizes and configurations is available, with an optional CAT III filter for CL3/BSL3 waste.
