A typical run might involve prepared media in Durans sterilised at 121 °C for 15 minutes on a liquids cycle, with contaminated samples, plates and cultures processed later on a separate discard cycle. The best specification depends on how many loads the lab needs to process each day and how quickly the chamber needs to be available again.
What this means for beverage producers
The attraction of a compact top-loader is simple: it fits the lab, it is straightforward to operate, and cooling can be matched to the pace of routine testing. It may be a modest machine, but it supports a large responsibility: keeping the quality-control lab ready to protect consistency batch after batch. In regulated beverage settings that responsibility extends to proof — some producers have their QC autoclaves validated on installation and re-validated regularly, so the lab can demonstrate its sterilisation, not just perform it.
